Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 3 November 2026
The short version
- Townagram helps people find local businesses and local news, and helps businesses look after their listings.
- You can browse without an account. You must be 18 or over to create one.
- Be honest, only claim a business you really represent, and don't post anything illegal or misleading.
- Your content stays yours, but you let us show it on Townagram.
- Nothing here takes away your legal rights. This summary is for convenience, and the full terms below are what count.
1. Who we are
Townagram is run by Simply Consulting Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 04260717), whose registered office is at 11 Lone Tree Avenue, Impington, Cambridge, CB24 9PG, UK. "We", "us" and "our" mean that company.
You can reach us through our contact page. If we need to contact you, we'll use the email address on your account.
By using Townagram, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or over to create an account or claim a business.
- You sign in with a link and code sent to your email, or with Google, so keep access to those accounts secure.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
- You can ask us to close your account at any time through our contact page.
3. Using the site
We want Townagram to be useful and safe for everyone, so please don't:
- break the law, or help anyone else to do so;
- pretend to be someone else, or to represent a business you don't;
- post anything that is false, misleading, defamatory, hateful, threatening or that infringes someone else's rights;
- send spam, or harvest other people's contact details from the site;
- scrape the site in bulk, overload it, get around its security or interfere with how it works.
4. Business listings and claims
- Many listings start from business information that we gather ourselves, so a listing can exist before its owner has heard of us. Having a listing doesn't mean a business has endorsed Townagram.
- We do our best to keep listings accurate, but we can't promise that every detail is correct or up to date. Please check anything important with the business directly.
- If you own or represent a business, you can ask to manage its listing. We may ask for evidence and can accept or reject a claim. If your account email matches contact details we hold for the business, we may accept the claim automatically.
- You can only make a claim if you're allowed to act for that business. One account can own one business.
- If a listing about your business is wrong, or you'd like it removed, let us know.
- We decide how listings are ordered. Enhanced listings can appear ahead of others.
5. Your content
Anything you add to Townagram, such as a business bio, website or contact details, stays yours. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, copy and adapt it, including resizing or formatting it, so that we can run and promote Townagram. The licence ends when the content is removed, although copies may remain for a short time in backups or where other people have already shared it.
You promise that you have the right to add the content, and that it is accurate and lawful. We may edit or remove content that breaks these terms.
6. Reporting content, and how we deal with it
If you see something illegal or that breaks these terms, or you want to complain about how we've handled content, tell us through our contact page. Please include a link and explain the problem.
- We don't allow illegal content. We take steps to stop people encountering it, and we remove it quickly once we become aware of it.
- That applies to terrorism content, child sexual exploitation and abuse content, and all other priority illegal content under the Online Safety Act 2023. We review reports of each kind and remove anything we find to be illegal.
- We take down intimate images shared without consent within 48 hours of a report.
- We don't use automated tools to detect illegal content. People on our team review reports.
- We apply these rules consistently. If we remove your content, or restrict your account, you can ask us to look again by contacting us.
7. Paid plans
Browsing Townagram and claiming a listing are free. We don't take payments on the site at the moment, but we plan to offer optional paid plans for businesses. If you choose one, these terms apply:
- We'll show you the price, what's included and how often you'll be billed before you pay.
- Paid plans are for use by businesses. They renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time. Your plan continues until the end of the period you've paid for, and then won't renew.
- We don't normally refund part-used periods, but we will give a refund where the law requires one or where we've failed to provide what you paid for.
- We'll give you at least 30 days' notice of any price change, so that you can cancel first if you prefer.
- If you're buying as a consumer, not for a business, you also keep your statutory rights, including any right to cancel within 14 days.
8. Local news and other websites
Townagram shows headlines, summaries and images from local publishers' public feeds, and links to their websites. That content belongs to the publishers, and they're responsible for it. We also link to businesses' websites and social networks, and we aren't responsible for those sites.
If you think something on Townagram infringes your copyright, contact us with a link to it and details of your rights, and we'll look into it promptly.
9. Our rights
Apart from your content and the publishers' content, the Townagram name, logo, design and software belong to us or our licensors. You're welcome to use the site and share links to it, but please don't copy it to build something else.
10. Suspending or closing accounts
We may remove content, or suspend or close an account, if we reasonably believe someone has broken these terms or the law, or to protect other people. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to put things right. If we close a paid account without you being at fault, we'll refund the unused part of any period you've paid for.
11. Changes
Townagram will keep evolving, so we may add, change or remove features. We may also update these terms when the service or the law changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page and, if a change significantly affects you, we'll tell you in advance by email or on the site. If you don't agree to a change, you can stop using Townagram and close your account.
12. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that can't legally be excluded or limited. If you're a consumer, nothing here affects your legal rights, including those under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Otherwise, and as far as the law allows:
- We provide Townagram with reasonable care and skill, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.
- We aren't responsible for businesses listed on Townagram, including what they sell, say or do, or for content from other people and publishers.
- We aren't liable for losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable.
- If you use Townagram for business, we aren't liable for lost profits, lost sales, lost business or loss of goodwill. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of £100 and the amount you paid us in that period.
13. General
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales, except that if you're a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts, and the mandatory laws of your home nation still protect you.
- If a court decides part of these terms is invalid, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still do so later.
- Only you and we have rights under these terms. We may transfer them to another organisation if the business changes hands, and we won't let that reduce your rights.
How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
